Consistent prayer is a problem for many people. Not because they don’t want to pray but because the enemy battles them with distractions of all kinds. One thing after another. Another heart break, another dish broken, another phone call just as you bow your head to pray. Why is that? Jesus said this flesh is weak! Yes, Jesus asked His disciples to watch and pray with Him, but they couldn’t stay awake.

Mat 26:37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

Mat 26:38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

Mat 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Mat 26:40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Mat 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Mat 26:42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

Today, I feel the warfare against prayer. Satan doesn’t like to see people calling on the name of the Lord. So many wonder why Muslims lose it when Christians pray. You can almost see the madness in their eyes as they beat people or rant until the police make them stop. Watch the Arabs, and the noise they make over a couple of Jewish people coming to the mount to pray! Why? Why does the enemy of our souls care how much we pray? If there is no power in prayer, no miracle to have, or no force greater than Satan, why does he battle so? Because there are miracles to receive, there are blessings to be gained, souls to be won and a relationship with Almighty God to be had if only we will maintain communication with Him.

Who has unsaved, unhealed, undelivered family or friends? Who is depressed, lonely, broken or tired? Who realizes the lost, the sick and the oppressed have no hope besides Jesus – so does the enemy of their souls and He wants to stop our intercession for them at all costs.

I started this group to encourage prayer. To encourage me to pray – to have believe3rs to pray with – because prayer is the best weapon, the best medicine and the best connection to the lord. Call on Him now, today and always

This morning, I found myself in need of encouragement. There’s not always someone around to offer that, so where do we go when we need help and can’t find it? We go to the Lord. Why do we always think we need someone else? Jesus is our Great High Priest. We can find the grace to help in times of need!

Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

I remember an old Hymn that said, ‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus
And to take him at his word
Just to rest upon his promise
And to know, thus saith the Lord

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him
How I’ve proved him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus
O for grace to trust him more

I’m so glad I learned to trust thee
Precious Jesus, Savior, friend

My dear friend, when there is no one to call and nowhere to go. When our bank account is empty and the car won’t run. When friends forget your number or get angry with you for no reason, remember Jesus! Remember, Jesus is always present and hears your slightest cry. Jesus is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. So today, talk to him like you would a dear friend because that’s who He is.
